Marble Shower Efflorescence Removed
Category: Natural Stone   Tags: marble, shower

Efflorescence is caused by moisture drawing mineral salts from or through your surface material and then evaporating, leaving salt deposits behind. As you can see in the BEFORE image, this marble shower had an efflorescence problem.

We honed the marble to remove the efflorescence. Honing removes a thin, upper layer of the stone to reveal the brand new stone underneath. With the damage removed, we gave the shower a light polish to restore its beautiful shine. Once the shower was completely dry, we generously applied a combination of penetrating sealers and enhancing sealers to inhibit the formation of efflorescence. The homeowners were very pleased with the outcome. Notice the AFTER image, how it looks like a brand new shower.
